After earning a degree in Information Technology and Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003, I began my career in the IT department of a rapidly growing private jet membership company of roughly 200 employees. I advanced from IT Intern to the position of IT Systems Manager while managing the IT for an office relocation and two acquisitions during my four years there.
I decided to go back to school on a full time basis because I was not satisfied with the challenge and the work environment. I also consistently came across badly designed software that I had to configure and support. I witnessed some great management practices, and some rather poor management practices. Finally, I wanted a career that allowed me to harness my creativity. For these reasons, I continued my Psychology and Human Factors studies, and also developed my management and leadership knowledge and skills at Bentley University. After years of patiently supporting a myriad of different users, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the various mental models that they held regarding their technology usage. I had an amazing experience as an intern at the Bentley Design and Usability Center (DUC) during the summer of 2008. I have also learned from many usability experts in various other internships and contract assignments in recent years. The details of this experience can be found on my resume.
I can't wait to join and begin contributing to a User Experience team at a company in Massachusetts or elsewhere in the US. Eventually, I would like to become a User Experience Manager or Product Manager so I can bring together my knowledge and expertise in the fields of Information Technology, Human Factors, and Business. I would like this position to be at a socially responsible company that values their employees and provides opportunity for advancement.
